Attendees learn how mechanism of injury, assessment findings, and Situational factors guide triage decisions and transport priorities. The session integrates real-world examples to illustrate how responders can rapidly categorize patients while maintaining scene safety and operational awareness. By applying this systematic approach, MFRs enhance their ability to support efficient, evidence-informed trauma management alongside paramedic teams.

This presentation focuses on early recognition and management of sepsis, emphasizing how symptoms may appear in common call types such as respiratory complaints and fall injuries. Participants learn to identify subtle but critical warning signs, understand the pathophysiology of sepsis, and apply frontline interventions within the MFR scope. Through a patient-centered approach, the session highlights how timely recognition can dramatically influence outcomes. Responders will gain confidence in identifying at-risk patients and supporting transport decisions that expedite advanced care.
12:45pm - 1:45pm: The Great Debate with Janel Swain
This energetic, structured debate showcases three teams tackling a provocative or high-interest topic relevant to emergency response. Each side presents arguments supported by evidence, field experience, and clinical reasoning. Audience members are encouraged to listen critically, consider diverse viewpoints, and participate in post-debate reflection. Although the topic and debaters will be announced later, the format promises lively discussion, professional dialogue, and a chance to challenge assumptions in a respectful, engaging environment.
